Making Dog Treats is Easy -- Learn How
These treats are made with three common pantry items and take only 15 minutes to bake. We made these for a dog park opening and the fury friends gobbled them up.
What you will need:
1 1/2 cups uncooked Oatmeal
1 large Banana
1/2 cup Peanut Butter with NO xylitol
Paw Cookie Cutter or Baking Mold
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Using a food processor or blender, grind your oats until they're powder (we used the Ninja Bullet).
In a bowl, beat together the banana and peanut butter until smooth. A few small chunks of banana here and there is ok. The dough should stick together, but shouldn't be sticky. Add additional peanut butter if the dough is too dry or additional oats if too sticky.
Reserve about a tablespoon of ground oatmeal and pour the rest into the banana peanut butter mixture and mix until combined.
Dust your surface with the reserved ground oatmeal and roll your dough to about a 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut into desired shapes and place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet or press into the mold.
Bake treats for approximately 15 minutes, or until the edges start to brown. If the mold is deep, additional cooking time might be needed.
Cool completely before storing in an airtight container for up to a week.
Caution: Be sure to use a peanut butter that does not contain xylitol, as it is harmful to dogs. Always double check with your vet before feeding your pet new foods.
